GOAN COACHES LEARN THE DUTCH WAY
With the objective of developing our local coaches, we collaborated with the Goa Football Association (GFA) to conduct a five-day World Coaches Introductory and Life Skills program from 25th June to 29th June at the Duler Stadium in Mapusa. Dutch expert Bert Zuurman from the Netherlands Football Federation (KNVB) who was the chief instructor of the program, imparted to the coaches, the knowledge of basics of football along with life skills related to social issues with Water and Waste as the theme.
When Anantha Krishnan, a Long Jump, and Triple Jump State Meet Record holder from Goa arrived at Vedanta Sesa Goa Iron Ore office to work in the hospitality department, the management offered a helping hand to the talented athlete to resume his training. Our friends at Adidas India also extended the support and pitched in with specialized spikes for Anantha, who is now preparing to take the center stage at the upcoming National Games in November.
One of our most prominent alumni, Adil Ahmed Khan, received his national team call-up for the King’s Cup in Thailand. If that wasn’t all, the midfielder put on a commanding display especially against the hosts, as he delivered a crucial assist for the goal scored by Anirudh Thapa, as India won the game 1-0.
On 18th June, Michelle Castanha, who was the Player of the Season in Vedanta Women’s Football League last year, was selected in the women’s national football team preparatory camp for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2022 qualifier.
